Why automotive communication is different

A carmaker launches, prices and recalls its models market by market, and what a regional executive or a dealer says about a recall or a new electric model is reported under a brand that sells worldwide.

The move to electric vehicles has given carmakers' leaders a new story to tell and a new set of hard questions to answer.

Much of the industry's communication runs through dealers and distributors who own the customer relationship but not the brand, so the message has to hold from head office to the showroom.

What we train automotive people for

Every programme is built for the situation your people will face, using your own issues, your stakeholders and the questions they will be asked.

Media training

Executive media coaching for regional presidents, managing directors and brand spokespeople, with key messages built for the launch and several rounds on camera.

Crisis communication

Crisis communication and crisis interview training on scenarios drawn from your own business.

Media relations and social media

For dealer and distributor communicators, so every market tells the same story.

Public speaking and speechwriting

Public speaking, presentation training and speechwriting for executives who address dealers, staff and industry events.

Public affairs

Public affairs and government relations for the people who work with governments and regulators in each market.

Communication strategy

Communication strategy, internal communication, CSR and event management for regional communication teams.

How in-house training works

Most of our training is designed for one organisation and delivered to its team. This is what happens between your first message and the training day. To book individuals onto a scheduled course, see our open courses.

1
Tell us what you need

A 30-minute call is usually enough. We ask who will be trained, what they face and what you want to be different afterwards.

2
We send a proposal

Within a few days you receive a written proposal: the programme, the trainers, the format and the fee.

3
We build the programme

Once you confirm, we write the exercises around your organisation: interview scenarios on your issues, crisis exercises on your risks. Every trainer is briefed before day one. Where you are building a whole communication team, we start by assessing people against what each role needs.

4
We deliver and report

On site anywhere in the world or live online, in many languages. Every participant is coached individually and leaves ready for the real thing, and looking forward to it. Afterwards you receive a written report on each person and on the team, with recommendations for next steps.

Our work in the automotive industry

General Motors: media training for its senior leadership

We have media trained three regional presidents of General Motors, a national managing director and the heads of marketing, sales and aftersales, and the company has commissioned us 10 times over the better part of five years.

Porsche: media training for 10 spokespeople, from the chief executive down

We coached six of Porsche's senior executives one to one, among them the chief executive and chief financial officer, built a key message toolkit for an electric model's launch and rated the readiness of all 10 spokespeople for management.

Ferrari: media relations workshops for its dealerships

We designed and ran two workshops in media relations and pitching stories for representatives of Ferrari's dealerships, opened by Ferrari's own PR team and joined by a guest journalist each day.
