Writing for Business

Clear writing is clear thinking made visible. Most professionals write every day but few have had structured development in how to do it well. This one-day course builds the foundational skills: how to plan and structure content for your reader, choose language that is precise and appropriate, and edit your own work to a standard you can be confident in.

What this course covers

Planning and structuring content, language and vocabulary, grammar and sentence construction, editing and proofreading.

How it works

Every session runs in a small, boardroom-format group — typically six to eight senior professionals. Your trainer tailors content to the specific industries, organisations and challenges each participant brings, so you work on real situations, not generic examples. The learning combines evidence-based best practice briefings with structured discussions, practical workshops and peer learning. This is training with a coaching and consulting flavour — focused on building skills and producing outputs you can apply in your work immediately.

What you will be able to do
  • Write with clarity, accuracy and impact across all business formats
  • Plan and structure written content for maximum reader engagement
  • Choose language that is precise, appropriate and persuasive

Frequently asked questions

A great deal. The small-group format and intensive, practical approach mean every participant leaves with specific, applicable skills and techniques.

Nothing specific is required. If you have a current project or challenge relevant to the course topic, bring it along — the practical exercises can incorporate real-world contexts.

No. Most participants are experienced professionals who write daily but have never had structured development. The course calibrates to the group — it builds fundamentals but works with real material at a professional level.

Writing for Business is a broad one-day foundation covering all business writing. Report Writing is a two-day deep-dive into the specific disciplines of long-form document planning, structure and argumentation.
